Between ratio and vision
As part of the program at Zentrum für Südosteuropastudien der Karl-Franzens-Universität in Graz, Austria, on 8 June 2016 Sandra Križić Roban, PhD will give a lecture under the title „Between ratio and vision, or how the new forms of post-war architecture emerge from the new reality of social relations“.
The architectural and urbanistic modernisation after WWII in Croatia established a balance of form, function, and structure in the attempt to avoid the pitfalls of formalism and monumentalism alike. Besides, utopian ideas like futurist floating and rotating buildings, or architecture functioning like machinery or clockwork, provides the context conceived as a social, and not a political project.
