DHH 2026: Cultural Memory vs. Machine Memory

Sanja Horvatinčić will take part in the 6th International Conference Digital Humanities & Heritage organised by DARIAH-HR from 7 to 9 October 2026 at the Faculty of Humanities, Juraj Dobrila University of Pula. On 9 October 2026, in the session Archives, Algorithmic Visibility and the Politics of Memory, she will present a paper titled “Digital Afterlives: Citizen Mapping and the Politics of Heritage Classification”.

This year’s conference titled Cultural Memory vs. Machine Memory explores the relationship between cultural memory, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence. It pays particular attention to digital heritage, archives, research infrastructures, and the ethical and societal challenges of using artificial intelligence in culture and heritage. The conference is organised by DARIAH-HR / Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, DARIAH-IT / National Research Council (CNR), and the Faculty of Humanities, Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.

Participation in the conference is part of the project DIGitART – “Digital Network, Spatial and (Con)Textual Analysis of 20th Century Artistic Phenomena and Heritage”, conducted by the Institute of Art History 2023–2027, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
