Biography
Ena Katarina Haler was born in Osijek in 1996. She obtained her masters degree in Architecture and Urban planning from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb in 2023, with a project titled The Other Mediterranean – Memorial Centre of Predrag Matvejević in Mostar. The mentor was prof. Petar Mišković. During her graduate studies, she participated in the course Documenting Architectural Heritage and also the workshop Field Analysis of Architectural Heritage in Oprtalj, Istria, led by prof. dr. sc. Alan Braun.
She completed her student internship at the office of architect Andrija Rusan. From 2020 to 2021, she worked at the architectural and design office Atellior on projects related to the restoration and conversion of historical buildings, as well as interior design. She collaborated with architect Nera Jelaska on the interior design of hospitality architecture and commercial spaces. After graduation, from 2023 until mid-2024, she worked at the architectural office matrica arhitektura. Since June 2024, she works as a research associate in the field of architecture at the Institute of Art History.
In addition to her professional work, Haler works as a journalist specializing in culture and cultural policy, writing articles on architectural and urban heritage, travelogues, reports, as well as literary and film reviews.
As an author, she has published the novels Nadohvat (2019) and Nevini (2024).
