Research trip to Banja Luka

During her research stay in Banja Luka from May 19 to 24, 2024 in Banja Luka, Martina Bobinac researched the city's reconstruction after the earthquake that struck Banja Luka in 1969. She conducted archival research in the Archives of the Republic of Srpska, and researched the Budžak district, one of the neighborhoods built in the 1960s in Yugoslavia after natural disasters, where a settlement of prefabricated houses was erected and incorporated into the city's urban plan.

The research is carried out as part of the project UrbArh – Art and Architecture of Urban Settings in Croatia, which is financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU and is related to the topic of the doctoral dissertation “Urban and housing reconstruction models after natural disasters in Yugoslavia and the global South 1962–1972” (mentor: Tamara Bjažić Klarin, Ph.D.).
