Job offer for the Director of the Institute of Art History, Zagreb
The Institute of Art History (IAH), www.ipu.hr, is a public research institution focusing on the history and theory of Croatian visual arts, based in Zagreb, a member of the International Association of Research Institutes in the History of Art, RIHA. IAH has 40 employees (among them 25 scholars and researchers – art historians and 10 expert associates). The primary task of IAH is to conduct fundamental and applied research, interpret and value art phenomena, monuments and personalities on the territory of Croatia, with the aim of contextualizing art heritage in the national, regional and European context.
Candidate's profile
IAH is seeking applicants (f/m) with a proven record of scientific excellence and competencies necessary to lead a public organization. A PhD degree, scientific rank in IAH’s field of activity and significant research management experience are required. Salary will be commensurated with qualifications and compliant with applicable legislation in Croatia.
The appointment of the Director shall be carried out in accordance with Croatian legislation (the Law on Institutions, Law on Science and Higher Education, and IAH’s Statute), for a period of 4 years, which could be extended.

Job Description: The Director will lead and manage IAH and take overall responsibility for its operations, including budget implementation and the achievement of IAH's objectives. The Director is the legal representative and public face of IAH. He/she shall perform his/her tasks independently and shall be accountable to the Governing Board.
Director´s responsibilities
● Managing of preparation and execution of the Annual Implementation Plan and the Annual Budget Plan of IAH, elaborating the Annual Activity Report and the Annual Accounts for submission to the Governing Board for approval;
● Ensuring that IAH's budget is managed efficiently in conformity with the financial regulations and ensuring an effective and efficient internal control system;
● Appointing and supervising IAH's staff in accordance with inner regulations;
● Managing communications and public relations concerning the activities of IAH.
