Discovering Dalmatia I
Institute of Art History – Cvito Fisković Centre in Split invites you to an international conference that will be held from 21st to 23rd May 2015 in the Ethnographic Museum in Split (Severova 1).
"Discovering Dalmatia" is a weeklong program of the Institute of Art History – Cvito Fisković Centre in Split. It is dedicated to cultural and historical aspects of the Croatian coastline, within layered connections with Mediterranean and Europe, gradually revealing especially during the 18th and 19th centuries, when many travel writers and artists on their Grand Tour started regular visits to the eastern Adriatic coast.
The final part of the weekly program is international conference entitled"Discovering Dalmatia. Dalmatian and 18th and 19th century travelogues, pictures and photographs".
The conference is organized within the framework of the research project of the Institute for the History of Art titled Dalmatia – a destination of the European Grand Tour in the 18th and the 19th century.
